So most people close to me know but I was trying to take a job in Afghanistan. Largely for financial reasons. I was looking to quickly get out of debt that I had acquired through some bad choices. Good lessons, bad choices. But it appears the era of easily getting a job there has ended. I had a job, was all set to give my notice and the company was put on a hiring freeze. It may get lifted but based on speeches and political climates, I for see a very near end to our time in Afgh. So after a bit of shock this week and putting the stop on a few things I had in motion, I finally can say I pulled my self together. I was also slightly prodded by a good friend who told me I'm wasting my potential with talent in my career.
And now the reality, I have my first Muay Thai fight in 6 weeks. I have a lot of work ahead of me. When I thought I wasn't going to be here, I decided I wanted to spend my time eating out and drinking with my friends. I will pay for that here shortly. The weight classes are a little different, I have to get to 132 lbs. I believe I can do it. I just have to get my mind right. And ready. 6 weeks goes fast but it can drag on when you are craving something. I know what I need to do, doing it won't be too bad. But at the end the reward will be great.
And I have to not celebrate my birthday this year. Or I shall celebrate it by eating next nothing, no salt and 32 ounces of water spread over the day....yippee! Good thing I love this stuff.
And now I have to find a great new pair of Muay Thai shorts!

I have to say that even though the money would have been good, I'm glad to hear you won't be in danger stuck in Afghanistan. I think we're all ready to pull our troops out of an area that doesn't want us there.
ReplyDeleteAnd of everyone I know, You can be ready in six weeks... :) You've got the drive and the discipline. I hope next time I'm in DC it's at a time when I can watch you beat the crap out of some chick. :)
