Whats beautiful?

So Im still processing yesterday and not ready to write about it.  What I am ready to write about is a challenge I have taken on.  Sometimes I need a little prodding.  Probably anyone that is reading this would never believe that.  But Im my own worst critic.  I saw this come across my FB timeline but didn't even consider it, and then a good friend told me I should.  So naturally I signed up.  Its a 9 week challenge to basically rep Under Armour in a competition to redefine the female athlete.  They are calling it "Whats Beautiful".  I actually tried getting a job with UA at one point, its probably the single company I admire and want to be a part of most.  You post a goal and perform a series of challenges towards that goal.  The challenges are listed below.  Some are individual, some involve others.  Im kind of nervous to undertake this.  Not really sure why.  I guess the fear of failure in putting myself out there.  That would be a common thread in my life.  My own fear of failing holding me back.  It is what it is and now Im putting it on my blog and holding myself accountable.

2.     Workout twice in the same 24-hour period. Upload a picture from both and tell us how they compare.

4.     Post a video of the gnarliest, most intense part of your training routine. The move you love to hate.
5.     With a photo or video, prove you are now closer to your goal than you were when you started. Show us one thing you can do now that you couldn't do before.
6.     Think of an excuse for not reaching your goal, then destroy it. Get creative. Make something that symbolizes it and pummel it. Or just show yourself defying it.
7.     Show us how much drive you have. Push further. Post as much as you want. Show us you want it more than anyone else.

Compete Challenges
1.     Show us your ultimate face of intimidation. What does it look like when you stare down your competition? Upload it here.

3.     Post a pic or video of you completing a 1-mile run (outdoor or treadmill). Success looks different for everyone, show us your success.
4.     Who do you consider your greatest competitor in this challenge? Pick out a completed mission by someone else in the competition and beat her at her own game. Show us how you bested her.
5.     Take the ultimate test of fitness – the Marine Corp Physical Fitness Test. Post a video of you crushing any part of the test.
6.     Grab a friend and show us how working out together makes you push yourself. Document with a photo or video.
7.     Show us your competitive spirit. Break away from the pack. Keep posting. Be the one others are trying to catch.

Influence Challenges
1.     Get as many friends as you can to join you for a workout or an activity. Post a pic of your influencer workout session.
2.     Upload a video of how your family, most supportive friends, coworkers and, heck, even strangers are encouraging you to keep "getting after it" to meet your goal.
3.     Ask your Facebook friends to up the ante on your workout by challenging you to accomplish a physical challenge. Upload a photo/video of you conquering that challenge here and on Facebook.
4.     How many people can you get to join this competition with you? List the names here and upload a group photo.
5.     Create a What's Beautiful Pinterest pinboard of images that represent determination, commitment, perspiration and grit and post the link here.
6.     If you could design workout gear specific to your athletic goal, what would it look like? What would help you perform your best? Sketch it, write it up and post it for us.
To be an influencer, people need to know who you are. Be memorable. Rally the crowd. Keep posting. Be the leader everyone

So I have thought about this for a while.  Do I actually write this post?  Do I put my dirty laundry out there for everyone? Or the handful that read my blog.  And if I do, what do I say? Do I slam those involved?  Do I take the high road?  When is a “good” time to put it out there?  A few days under my belt and there is probably no better time. So no secret, my ex-boyfriend was my coach.  That worked out mildly well while we were together but add a breakup and somehow it just doesn’t work out as smoothly.  Add a few of the worst things a person could do to another in there and disaster doesn’t even begin to describe.  But I have this eternal belief that I can make any situation work.  That I can fix things.  It’s what makes me good at my job.  I’m an eternal optimist. But it’s what causes me to not be so good at my personal life.  Even when things are clearly not good, I still think I can fix it and make it right...

Weekly eating

The struggle is real.  Between working and them finding time to eat some thing other than takeout pizza, do my physical therapy, spend time with the baby and the husband it is seriously hard to fit it all in. Oh and sleep.  The older I get, the more sleep becomes non negotiable. We are also trying to eat with McKenna so she sees us eat and follows suit. It also allows me to give her things off my plate, which she definitely is more interested by.  This has actually been a huge struggle as our window in the evening is so limited with her, I don't want to spend it cooking and not spending time with her.  So the goal is to keep our meals simple and do as much ahead of time as possible. The downside to this is the Husband and I usually spend time chatting and relaxing during our meals as it’s always been our alone time together. But sleep. So I came up with a plan for the week and cooked the majority of our food on Sunday.  I really only made salsa because my freez...

Defensive eating

I like to think I have complete control over what i eat, how much and when. It's my body, who else would have control? Over the last week, I have realized the level of influence the person you live with can affect it. I have lived for a while with someone who has no self control and thus sees a package of cookies on the counter and eats the entire thing or eats an entire 1 lbs bag of PB M&m's in one sitting. So instead of eating just one of my favorite cookie, I would eat 3 or 4. Yes I know cookies will not be gone forever but in that instant I become territorial and eat more than I normally would. It makes me wonder about the strange behaviors those in large families must have about food. Clearly our parents define a lot about the relationship we have with food but this realization brings to light a whole new level of influence on my eating. There has been a package of cookies on the counter that's been there since Monday and is still half full.
